I’ve been to Nuremberg and Berlin for the Christmas markets, preferred Nuremberg,
I am happy to see a lot of recommendations for Vienna, as I’m off there next month!
    Looking forward to it.

We’re off to Vienna next week, Lonely Planet in our hands and Before Sunrise in our hearts….

Just reviving this thread for some thoughts on a UK weekend Christmas break.

We’ve been to Somerset and Edinburgh the last few years. We’re based in London so keen to keep the distance to under 2 hours given we have an 18 month old in tow.

Another vote for Bath, was just over an hour on the train from London, went last year

As someone who spent several years in Birmingham as student, the Christmas markets are very big and nice, and not as much as a tourist trap as Winter Wonderland , however if you have a little one, would avoid Friday nights, weekends as it can get busy and rowdy as there are plenty of near by bars/pubs

I definitely noticed more Before Sunrise enthusiasts in Vienna than Before Sunset fans in Paris.

My OH would follow Julie Deply anywhere. To be fair, I probably would too!

You really need to provide a few more details – aka what you mean by good. Location? Facilities? Cost? Brand (any status)?

We’ve recently booked a weekend in Nuremberg in December. We’re staying within the walls but there’s likely to be more availability and cheaper accommodation just outside.

Also plan to go to Birmingham. Really enjoyed the market last year. There’s always Kingston upon Thames. We could stop off on way back from Heathrow if we take the SL7 when we return from Buenos Aires!
