Visiting Thailand in October 22 for first time since 2016.
Agenda as of now is 2 nights in BKK, then 5 nights on Koh Chang, another 2 nights in BKK, then 5 or maybe 6 nights in Chiang Mai, then last couple of nights in BKK before flying home.
So far have booked the international flights, and have a good idea where we are going to stay on Koh Chang….
There will be 5 of us in KC , wife & I, plus my son his GF and their little boy who will be nearly one by then. ( They live & work in BKK )
But for Chiang Mai will be just the two of us, appreciate any pointers regarding which areas of the city are best to base ourselves, hopefully get out and about while there.

I stayed here about eight years ago, and loved it. Turns out — despite very fierce competition — it is now number one traveller ranked on Trip Advisor. https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g293917-d1582410-Reviews-Tanita_House-Chiang_Mai.html
The overnight train BKK -> Chiang Mai is well worth taking IMO if it means you avoid a night in BKK. It’s extremely slow at the best of times, and often late running.
I think Rhys did a review of the Le Meridien not too long ago.
