Current BA Gold Holder.
Have 3x trips to Sydney on QR/BA in business discounted – booked by corporate travel agent.
Under old system this would have been a no brainer credit to BA for Tier points (480 per return trip x3 – would have gotten me to gold more or less).
Under the new system how will this work. Will the QR flights credit at the % of miles flow as Tier points and the BA travel be corporate $ spend = Tier points?
Some how I suspect I am better off possibly moving to Finnair as going forward it will be easier to maintain status – I do not tend to travel East so QTR is not frequently used.
Thanks
Have a think about crediting to Iberia. LHR-DOH-SYD on QR Business would earn 6,000 elite points roundtrip (1,250+1,750+1,750+1,250). For context, their Oneworld Sapphire level is 7,500 elite points and Emerald requires 20,000. You say you’ve got some BA mixed in there which would affect the calculation, but you’re more or less there for a BA Gold equivalent.
Have a look at this thread regarding Finnair’s status levels – there may be some useful info ?

Thanks for this – very useful. Need to run this in some detail to better understand where I sit – It appears they don’t have soft landings which is a consideration.
Alaskan? Should make it easily.
I had looked at this when BA broke the news – and after some digging around I remember why I didn’t make a mental note of this as a home
“Qualification via eligible miles or segments must include this minimum number of flights marketed and operated by Alaska Airlines”

Have you watched Matts Planet YouTube videos about Finnair and Qatar loyalty schemes? I highly recommend it before making a decision!

That will be this weekend’s fun + a spreadsheet of testing things out.
If I understood Matt’s video correctly Qatar flights don’t earn much when credited to Finnair. Are your flights all on BA flight numbers or a combination of BA and QR flight numbers? Cheap QR flight on QR metal post at 25% of miles flown when credited to BA so it might actually work well to just put your BAC number in the booking. If it’s all BA flight numbers then that may change the calculation. I have discounted posting anything to QR as they require a minimum of 4 sectors on QR metal and QR flight numbers so that doesn’t work for me.
