Opened a BAPP for the 70k points, cancelled after getting the bonus and I’m wondering how the membership fee gets refunded?
The account has already been cancelled and there’s no way of me getting back into the account. On the chat they said I would be able to log back in and deal with it that way. Haven’t received the letter yet or anything from amex regarding the accounts cancelled.
It will be applied to your account as a credit.
You should still have access to the account online unless you have deleted the card from your online account yourself. If not, Amex will write to you in due course.
You can then have the funds paid directly to you or via a cheque. It is possible to initiate this via the chat.
Get onto live chat and tell them you want it transferred to your bank account.
If you had downgraded to the free BA card rather than cancelling, the pro-rata fee would’ve been refunded to the downgraded card. My fee was refunded within 24 hours without having to contact Amex! https://www.americanexpress.com/en-gb/account/login?DestPage=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.americanexpress.com%2Fen-gb%2Fapply%2Fdowngrade%2Fpersonal%2Fcredit-cards%2Fba-classic
If you have another Amex card they should be able to refund to that. They did that for me last year when I cancelled my PRG and via chat, they agreed to send the pro-rata refund to my Green charge card.
