Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points
so, with almost everyone jumping the AMEX and Curve ships, what exactly is left for Avios earning opportunities?
HSBC customer service is a shambles, the fee is high (for me), and I’m not eligible for Premier anyway.
Barclaycard – when I originally applied I was given a pointless credit limit, £200 I recall. The mechanism to sort this was beyond complicated (paylsips, self-employed, hearing nothing back from CS etc), and I gave up in the end.
Rob never covers it, but NatWest Rewards convert to Avios at a cost of about 0.85p per Avios.
The Natwest Rewards Credit Card gives you 1% back in Rewards on Supermarket Spending. It is free if you have a Rewards Current Account, which pays you £3 a month in Rewards (£5 less £2 fee) for meeting some easy funding and DD conditions. They have similar cashback deals to Virgin and Lloyds BG.
Not a game changer on its own, but a useful addition to a portfolio.
