Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club What is a good British Airways Club World price to New York?

LHR-JFK will be a new route for me. I’m thinking cash tickets in a sale will probably be the best value but I’m not sure what sort of price I should be looking for. The flights will be late September or early October. What represents a good CW fare at this time of year? Thanks.

How long is a piece of string? That route is one of BA’s most competitive ones but you are at the mercy of the AA/BA/IB/Finnair transatlantic revenue sharing agreement. I’ve seen return fares in J as low as £1600 in the past but I doubt that you’ll find that level today. I think it’s too soon in the year to be getting best value, especially if you’re paying cash rather than an Avios booking. I’d say you’re better off waiting until much later in the year and for one of the regular BA sales. That said just checked and BA currently offering return fare in Oct for £1,774 which isn’t bad.

    I’ve paid £2000 for 2 before or 1200 for 1

Have you looked at the BA Holidays sale fares? If you combine it with at least one night in a hotel (which you don’t have to use) or car hire, you sometimes get cheaper options. Rob has done a couple of good articles on this.

I do not expect to find £1000 fares but I suppose I was hoping for £1200-£1300. Is that a reasonable expectation for late September or early October? Anyone got any recent experience?

Google for ‘The Ultimate British Airways Sales Fare Archive’. It hasn’t been updated since 2020 but pandemic fares were generally lower than in 2020.

Saturday flights are more expensive than other days to most destinations but, as a one-off data point, I recently bought weekend tickets in F for about £1,600.

If you are flexible with dates, definitely only buy in a sale.

Prices tend to bottom out at around £1,100/£1,200 during sales.

I’d say £1150-1300 is completely possible during sales. Google flights is your friend.
