Forums Other Housekeeping What forum to post questions about Flying Blue status match to Virgin Atlantic?

I took advantage of the Flying Blue promo to status match angry BAEC members like me. I now how Flying Blue Gold but, for the love of me, I can’t figure out how to get status match on Virgin Media. Where forum would be the right one to post this request for help in?

    Thanks.

    Hi

You can’t match from FB to Virgin. They are in the same airline alliance (SkyTeam) so don’t allow it.

You also don’t need it, since FB status gets you all the benefits of Virgin Atlantic status – with the exception of using the credit card voucher.

Thanks, Rob. I think my simpleton mind doesn’t comprehend what Flying Blue is then, to be completely honest with you. I thought only airlines could be part of an airline alliance? Is Flying Blue such thing? Is it like AIG to BA and Iberia but for KLM and Air France?

Regardless, I am about to book a trip to Las Vegas. It’s a work trip and the booking is managed via Navan (fka TripActions). My company pays for this. If I decide to purchase a Virgin Atlantic flight (which was my intention to start earning status there), should I use my Flying Blue number to accrue XP points? Should I convert my Flying Blue status to SkyTeam’s top Elite Plus level?

God I am so confused, sorry for this.

Flying Blue is the airline frequent flyer programme for KLM and Air France

Executive Club is the programme for BA

    Flying Club is Virgins

IAG (not AIG) is the holding company that owns BA and Iberia (and 3 other airlines_

One World is an airline aliance wth BA and AA (plus others) as members

Sky Team is an alliance with Virgin, KLM and AF (plus others) as members

Star Alliance has Lufthansa and United (plus others) as members

Thanks, that makes sense now. i think I made the mistake of taking for granted I would have a status match with Flying Club. I misread the article.

I hope this was the right forum to put this thread in.

I’m still contemplating the prospect of using VA for the first time to travel to Las Vegas and request a BA Silver status match with that trip. I know from reading this article that VA’s Silver is worse than BA’s Silver but I now have SkyTeam Elite Plus since I did the whole Flying Blue shebang so I don’t care about the short term.

Thinking long term though, my question is, is it easier to progress from VA Silver to Gold than it is from BA Silver to Gold. The latter is unfeasible for me. Have you written about approximate net spend to achieve the former?

Ignore this. I’ve booked my trip with Virgin Atlantic and requested a status match. We’ll see how this goes.
