Is anyone else experiencing delays obtaining the 60000 welcome bonus points with the AMEX Platinum card? I took out the card on 22nd October last year (well inside the deadline of 2nd November) and completed my £6000 spend by the middle of January (i.e. inside three months, so certainly less than the six months requirement). I was told that the bonus points would be awarded within a maximum of 28 days of my 19th January statement date. Today is the 28th day and no sign of the points. Now I am told that my case has been sent to the back office and will be resolved within 7-10 working days. Am I just an old cynic or is AMEX deliberately delaying the award of the points in order to extend the time of when I will cancel the card and get my pro rata rebate?

Did you phone or chat? If you did chat, try phoning. When you get through, ask if the rep is in Brighton. If they’re not, ask to be put through to a Brighton-based rep. They’re the ones with the access (and possibly the right training) to resolve your problem more efficiently.
As to your wider point, it used to be much smoother (read: automatic) for welcome and supplementary card bonus points. Either it is a genuine IT issue, or you’re right and it’s deliberate.
Whoever you speak to, get them to agree to take the last date you used your card (or the 28 days you were advised, at the very least) as the date you would’ve cancelled if their IT worked, and get a reference for your call. Then when you do cancel, get them to honour the agreement and insist they backdate the rebate to the date you agreed.

This is odd. Did you get the countdown bar whilst doing the spend?
Assuming not, and as you got no bonus at all, I am pretty sure that Amex believes you don’t qualify and have held an MR card in the previous 24 months.
Yes, had the same issue with same sort of timescales. Put in a formal complaint and just keep chasing them. I ended up with 20,000 additional points for the inconvenience.
I’m in the same position currently – mentioned it in another thread about Amex CS in general.
I opened a formal complaint and have recently had the 15 business day update, saying it will take more time.
I had the counter showing – and have a screenshot as proof. I have uploaded this should they look.
Had a business gold in the interim (cancelled over a year ago) but no personal Amex MR card for over 2 years.
I need to submit a complaint too, exact same fact pattern (claiming biz Gold MR counts which is incorrect). Is submitting a complaint only possible in post by writing or can this be done online?
Any guidance for what to include in complaint is appreciated!
I raised my complaint via chat. The CS agent pointed out that I’d had a business gold in the last two years and said this might be the issue (which it shouldn’t be according to their rules)
I’ve had the plat charge card for 3 weeks now , spent 3k on the card , still no countdown bar , is this normal ? I called Amex they said my last reward card was canx over 2 years ago so I would get the bonus if I hit the target spend in the required time , however they couldn’t advise why no tracker/count down bar. Do they no longer exist , Brighton agent wasn’t sure

As said, RING and ensure you are talking to Brighton. Though Mrs B did that, “Sam” said she would ring back and never did.
Her complaint is still waiting a response, though her points EVENTUALLy posted after a very long time.
My 60,000 for the Plat posted without fuss a few days ago.
Now just trying to get the ARCC to be sorted.
Had maybe my 8/9th attempt at getting the 65k bonus points for the platinum (as was referred). Again, hit with a stone wall from BA (FYI i have tried all angles previously – chat, phone (inc Brighton) etc). The usual line about having a gold business charge card in the last 24 months. Interestingly had a new line from the agent which I found quite hilarious:
Me: “to be clear, per the terms of the sign up bonus for the platinum card, i am not eligible if i
currently hold or have held any personal Membership Rewards-enrolled American Express Cards in the past 24 months.
as you have kindly noted, the gold business charge card is a BUSINESS card and not a PERSONAL card”Agent: “Yes, I understand your point here. However, the membership points that are earned in your Gold business card can be used for your personal use as well. Please note that your membership rewards account is personal. So, only you have the authority to earn/use the membership points in the account.”
This sort of line is just so frustrating. Anyway, complaint has gone in (although via chat so we will see how that goes). Not sure if Rob is aware that these issues seem much more frequent than ever previously, I have had some push back previously but always been fairly easily solvable with CS. This one, I cannot seem to get sorted!
I had to wait 90 days for 5k sup card bonus then I had to ask for points to be added via chat. I received my 60k welcome within 2 days of hitting spend.
I’ve had my plat for a week and was told the welcome bonus tracker is a bug
I also called and was told no restrictions are on my account but i wanted to make sure it shows I have the 70k bonus on my account and was told she could ‘ask the back office’ which from reading this, I now know is BS.Their IT is in a shambles and they do not want to admit it.

After 6 WEEKS her complaint was upheld and a small sum deposited to her Amex account.
I have a new platinum card with no countdown tracker on the app or desktop. I called and they said it was an IT issue. Applied for the additional card holder and to date the 5000 for additional card have not been added. I will wait until I hit spend target before chasing them again.
No spend tracker for my plat either although have had a similar issue with Amex cards previously. Will be hitting the spend target in next few days so looking forward to the fun!
Mrs S applied yesterday, card arrived today and tracker showing.
