…except they’ve cancelled the “old” one, the new
one never arrived, and I’m sitting in LHR about to fly.
    V annoying.

They replaced mine too in the last few days “To protect your account” rather than your quote though. Wonder what triggered it as they dont state.
Did make a curve transaction recently unless it was that… do you use curve?

Sorry, might have been your wording.
No Curve, but did have a multiple payments day
when I had a bit of free time: insurance/insurance/car repair, etc.,
and one didn’t go through several times…

It’s more the stopping the old card before replacing it that annoyed me!

Had said on my email my old card would work for 20 days until the new one arrives, but maybe they stop some cards quicker depending how bad the mysterious issue is.

The alternative being the fraudster that had cloned your card could carry on using it for contactless transactions and the card company would be on the hook for them. Yes, it’s an inconvenience but they’re doing the right thing.

What they mean is, every time :

“We are replacing your card for our security” .

Doesn’t that actually amount to the same thing?

Banks/card providers may pick up the tab for fraud but ultimately that cost is passed onto to the consumer. Same with SUBs, retention bonuses etc. None of it is ‘free’.
