VS on AF redemption disappeared into the aether – anything I should know?

Morning all,

Unusual experience this morning – a VS redemption I had booked on Air France has disappeared. I am due to fly in a couple of weeks time, and it has totally vanished – the booking reference on VS doesn’t find anything, I’ve had no email about it, it’s disappeared from my flying club account, and the Air France booking reference says “as requested, flight … on 15 March has been removed from your booking. If you didn’t make this request, please contact our customer service” (obviously – have done that last part)

In recent weeks I had flight schedule updates and needed to confirm new seats at different times, but always had an email or some kind of confirmation, and the same booking stayed in “limbo” as you’d expect until I confirmed the seats. But this morning the VS booking reference has totally vanished and the AF one isn’t allowing changes. And the flight does still seem to be on sale – can’t see that it has been cancelled.

Obviously reached out to both airlines and waiting for a response (and will be sure to let you know what comes of it!), but I’m wondering if anyone has had a similar experience to this before?

Virgin got back to me with their update – the only information they had was that booking was “removed for some reason”, and they restored it. Pretty spooky – I didn’t think bookings could just disappear without your knowledge!
