Sorry, yep it should have been (dot)com

If anyone wants to link their booking for $50 credit each, drop me an email – sbryans605(at)gmail(dot)com
@Paul – they have successfully managed to add the $50 credit to both accounts, the person I spoke to didn’t have any issues with it being a “Virgin Red” booking, but said the Sailor Loot is limited to $50 rather than $200 (still appreciated!)Thanks again Stephen, looking forward to it
So for whatever reason my booking was made in $’s vs £, even though no monies changed hands, and so any add one such as bar tabs and shore excursions need to be made in $ and they can’t even manually process it in £GBP. I have a Cashback offer on my Virgin Atlantic CC, do you think there is any chance a USD purchase will trigger it, or can you think of any other workaround?

My bar tab was charged in dollars to my virgin card and the cashback has tracked, however, I got stung by a non-sterling transaction fee though

Ah good to know, in this case the CB will write off the non sterling transaction fee.
That’s weird guys as my Bar Tab came through as GBP with a supplier of “Virgin Voyages – GBP” and a description of STEAMSHIP AND CRUISE LINES. There was no Forex. I did make the purchase via the website on a laptop rather than the app which might make a difference as the app does seem to focus on dollars. When you log into your account scroll down on the main page to:
“Purchase a £255 prepaid bar tab and for a limited time we’ll top you off with an extra $100 to spend on specialty drinks during your voyage.” – It shows $300 in the description but on the image in the right it shows the £ value. We made the purchase there on our VA and it transacted in GBP.
Where (and when) does the option to bid for an upgrade appear?
Where (and when) does the option to bid for an upgrade appear?
You should get an email from Virgin Voyages with upgrade bid options…….we had one a couple of months after booking, and then another reminder a month later…..guess it depends how far in advance you booked as to when they send something

Thanks, no emails as of yet (booked in June), maybe I should try and subscribe somewhere?

I suspect the emails are triggered based on time till sail date rather than time since booking, but visit http://www.virginvoyages.com/upgrade and scroll down to find the “Check my Level Upgrade eligibility” section and enter your booking reference there. This gets you to the same upgrades page you can see if you follow the link from the email.

Oddly, I received it late last night after adding the second sailors details. £900 seems to be lowest bid amount I can place for a suite that offers Rockstar benefits.
Virgin seem to be playing the Hokey Cokey with cruise timings – previously reported that due to ‘customer feedback’ Spanish Obsession cruise 25sept -2 Oct would depart Ibiza 2 hours earlier at 4pm so we could spend more time on the beautiful ship……Email today saying that due to ‘customer feedback’ departure from Ibiza would be 2 hours later , at 6pm instead of 4 pm, so we could spend more time on beautifully Ibiza……lol

I know, I thought that was a bit contradictory myself.
Re. the Virgin Money Cashback offers, I see that they are for the first purchase only, however would that apply across all cards? I see my Virgin Atlantic and Currant account Cashback programmes are now linked, albeit each respective account has the offer. Likewise, the offer seems to come and go almost back to back. Are we eligible for another first time purchase Cashback when the offer reappears with a fresh set of dates?

This is, of course, a total nonsense as one is not obliged to get off the ship at any juncture.
The arrival/departure time Changes could be a precursor for the clocks changing soon after. They could be just getting their ducks in a row booking the better time slots as daylight hours alter.

Does anybody have any thoughts or experience with this?
Paul,
Not sure if this helps, or if the offer is still showing in your cards, it use to repeatedly renew, however since I have used the cashback offer on the purchase of a bar tab, it has not returned. I only have one Virgin card so do not have another card to check.

It’s reappeared, with different dates, on mine, and so wondering if it’s classed a new offer?
For anyone that paid for the $300 bar tab with the “$50 extra offer” if you jump on live chat and ask politely, then they’ll reapply the bar tab with the “$100 extra offer” and no transactions takes place with refunds etc
Basically an extra free $50 for anyone on that old offer

That’s a good move on their part.

Late to the party but we are on the 18-25 September cruise too. Any chance you can email me your details so that I can link up for the loot?

It’s a little poor that those who have status matched within their new Loyalty Programme are excluded from any benefits on these Virgin Red redemption sailings as they are “deep discounted”. They are great value certainly however I wouldn’t say 115k is deeply discounted, and likewise I wouldn’t say it would cost Virgin Voyages much to honour those benefits.
Feel free to connect your booking to mine for $50 onboard credit

Ah yes, it has now been removed from both my linked Virgin cash back card offer sections. If I had know it was a once only offer I would have maybe thrown a few excursions into my basket.
