Can anybody advise on how to combine points (free) with my husband to get enough for an access code? Is there a phone number to try this? TIA

Message Virgin Red. There was a successful report of this in the comments of the main HFP article. YMMV. Do not mention household accounts (they do not exist), just ask nicely and cross your fingers.

    Thank you this worked!

Anyone on the 27th august cruise from Athens? Need to book flights from london but everything crazy expensive. Any suggestions?

I just booked the 13-20 cruise from Athens. Outbound on easyjet for £230 including bags and extra legroon.
Return flights looked expensive so I booked a KLM redemption via Amsterdam (45k Flying Club points + €50 for business class which was selling for £850).
Virgin couldn’t see the same flights to redeem on Virgin Points but >1250 miles would be 30k VS points just to Amsterdam plus 8k UK connection, so pretty good pence per point.

    Some data points.

Points from me and husband merged within one day. Access code arrived the next morning and booking confirmation email arrived within the hour. All booked for the 6th August. Managed to get Ryanair from Dub to ATH for £150 each and CE with BA for the return ATH-BHD for £375 each. It feels like a result for a last minute impulse buy!

It’s the free bottle of ‘bubbly’ (sparking wine) through signing up through a referral link.

I think I’m on the same as you mate, will try to remember closer to the time to meet for a drink. I’ve posted my referral code on the other thread, not sure if anyone’s used it, but if I understand it correctly if we link bookings (via agent chat/phone) then we get a bottle of bubbly each. I’ll look into it when I get time and not busy with work (but I’m still finding time to browse forums! 😂)

Similar timescales. I wasn’t feeling risky enough to wait and see if September became available, so we’re B2B on the 2 different Greek trips from 13th-27th Aug.

I was however feeling risky enough to just book same day flights on Jet2 out of Stansted. Just under £450 each with legrooms seats and hold bag, plus it’s easier for us to get there then LHR or LGW anyway. BA wanted closer to £700 each for much worse timings, and it was well over £750 for better ones! Happy to lose the TP and Avios on that one…

Not sure if someone has already mentioned this but I just read an article saying Richard Branson will be on Resilient Lady 27th August sailing from Athens – A virgin celebration voyage to celebrate 50 years of the brand – why oh why did I book the 27th sailing lol?

Evening all. I pushed the button on the med cruise and have the key but I’m struggling to make the dates work. Havent placed the booking yet. Is it possible for me to gift it to my nephew and his girlfriend?

Yes – just give them the access key and booking instructions and away they go. They make the booking all in their name and put the access code in at the checkout.

Is it possible to earn virgin (or any other) points/miles on the onboard spend?

Only if you settle your bill with a VS card (or another points earning card for Avios etc).

Cruises don’t earn VS points at all.

We are on the Greek Glow cruise now. No referral bottle of bubbly in the cabin. We went to Sailor Services to ask for it and they said it’s normally delivered on day 2 or 3, although it wasn’t marked down on our booking. Hmmm. Hope it arrives

Hey guys. My first post!!! I’ve been with Amex and Avios points, doing a 2for1 flight for a few years now.
However, this Greek cruise fits my wife’s dream for two reasons-she’s never been to Greece and she’s always want to do a Virgin cruise (usually much too pricey for us)
If someone in the know could give some advice, I’d really appreciate it. Wanting to book this as a suprise for her.
I haven’t signed up yet to Virgin club. I’m thinking- get the credit card 15000 points, then buy the rest which seems to come in at around £1000(???).
Any better ways? Schemes or referrals to get more points quickly? Buying 65000 is actually far more that £1k?
As I say, would love to suprise my wife with this, so any advice would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks

I received the email on that. Not sure if it’s a good thing or a bad thing?!!

I imagine the boat will be busier, but then wondering if there’ll be special events and maybe I can learn something if they do a talk etc.

I have finally got the Deep Blue Extras pop up on the ‘Add-Ons’ of the Me tab, on the app. Took a good while to show.

I also have ‘Bonus $100 Bar Tab’ showing too. Does anyone know if this is a straight $100 tab, where I don’t need to purchase a package? (So a real freebie?). Or is it on top of me buying a bar tab for cash?

As I’m on the 27th Greek Glow, the picture on the top of the Me tab is now of Branson’s cheesy grin!

Ive been on 5 Virgin cruises – the 80,000 points offer is an absolute bargain! I’m hoping they extend it to September sailings!

The deep blue extras $100 is just a straight up $100 bar tab for you to use, pretty good perk. For sending 2 emails (status match to MSC and then VV) DBE is a great offer, the priority boarding is genuinely supposed to get you on earlier, which means you can get the pick of the slots for spa and anything that requires you to be on the boat Wifi. The $100 tab, free laundry, premium wifi and $10 a day coffees will also definitely get a maximum work out, easily $400-500 of value for me over 2 weeks! Not fussed about the “exclusive cocktail event” but will likely turn up for some free booze and see how it is.

Approaches to gaining meaningful amount of points
    are:
    – sign up bonus for a virgin card (15k/30k)
    – sign up bonus for Amex gold/platinum (25k/50k)
    – adding supp card holder to gold/plat (3k/5k)
    – referring someone to amex from gold/plat (9k/12k)
    – transferring such points over from Amex
    – sign up bonus for the Virgin money investing (8k)
    – referring someone to Virgin Red (1k)

Be aware of the time it will take to get points from Virgin (looking at getting points in August if you sign up for the card today) vs. Immediate points transfers from Amex (so long as you make the transfer on the phone).

Looking likely this offer will be around for a while though, and probably extended to Sep/Oct sailings in time… but not guaranteed in any way.

This is why many will be transferring points from amex or buying.

    @Catherine
did you get X2 because of because both of you in the cabin are Virgin Sea-Rover status? Or because of other benefits stacking?

    Hello,
My take would be firstly to open a Flying Club/ Virgin Red account. You can’t do anything without this. Currently 80,000 miles/ points (which is current cost of the cruises in miles/points) will set you back £1,200 plus the £15 admin fee. If you’re looking to open a credit card it’ll take a few days for cards to arrive ( presuming you’re accepted) and the initial miles won’t post until after your first transaction the extra 15,000 miles bounds on the CC ( on top of the standard 15,000) ended on 13th June I think.
Personally, I think £1215 pounds for a cruise for two people is a bargain (granted you still need to consider flights, bar tabs etc). Our last cruise, Queensland (on Princess and again minus cost of getting there) probably cost three to four times as much.
When they’ve run this offer in the last few years the price of the cruises (in miles/ points ) increased as time went on so I’ve bitten the bullet and booked two at the current 80,000 miles/points each.If you do pull the trigger flying from the regions may have more options with regards to flights to Athens (obviously depending on where you’re based).
Lastly before doing anything I’d discreetly check that your wife would / will be thrilled ( including making sure she can take time off etc if she’s working / has other commitments ).
Personally I’d be thrilled with such a lovely surprise, but my time is flexibleish these days.
    Hope this helps:).

That’s definitely more than the DBE offering – did you book with cash/have other bonuses?
