Booking: ‘The Irresistible Med’ 2nd October.
Planning on going solo and indeed it did not even ask for a 2nd sailor name during booking (so that is only added at check in).

Flights: Budget/Regional flights £200+ with carry on only.
Opted for BA Club Europe from LHR for £50 + 29k Avios.

Regarding flights, it seems like a good plan to fly the day before and have Saturday night in Barcelona, for a leisurely trip to the cruise terminal on the Sunday (Hilton Barcelona booked for 50k Hilton points).

I am on the same trip and potentially on the same flights. Just out of interest has it been established yet if I/you can refer each other for the bonus as we’re on the same cruise?

    @Dace
Reportedly you can indeed ring up and twin the bookings to apply this even though both booked already. I am happy to give it a go, but think we would need to share some information offline and call up (rather than just using these links, which i don’t think will do it. https://virg.in/oTZ7 )

My Email is hfp.travelstrong@gmail.com if you want to give it a go!

Just had my cruise cancelled for 2023. Paid cash using a number of stacked offers and cashback for a Rockstar suite, drinks etc.
They are offering to double the value with a credit/voucher and add an additional “Access Key” (a further free trip) if I book before 31st July or receive a straight refund.
Concerned about the viability of the business as the offers seem “to good to be true”. Effectively the offer is for 3 cruises over the next 2 years.

    – if I take the voucher I assume I won’t be covered by my credit card if they go bust
    – not sure if my Barclays travel insurance will cover the voucher?

I’ve never “cruised” so not sure if we’ll even enjoy the experience. May consider the voucher offer if its insured against any further problems.

I dislike how this thread has become one massive “Please be referred by me” thread… Surely 99% of people using the offer have already booked.

I thought we were here to talk shop about the voyages themselves?

Hmmm. If you accept the voucher I hope you have good travel insurance. I think you’d lose Section 75 rights, but cannot 100% confirm that. If they do stay in business then you’d get a cracking deal.

They have to attract a massive amount of customers in order to… stay afloat… though imo. They cannot keep sailing with mostly empty ships.

on the 10th July cruise also. Still not booked outward flight looking at Bournemouth to Girona on the Friday or possible another route flying out on the Sat From Bmth on connecting flight .

Booked Meliá barcelona sarrià for 1 night on Sat for £109 using my Gold benefit and Wonder week seems a fairly good deal considering the hotel prices currently in Barcelona .

I’m on that flight (BOH to GRO on the Friday 8th July). We went with just cabin bags as I never have, nor ever want to, check-in bags with RyanAir!

@moss79, also booked on this cruise. Hope to bump into you and @StevenHP1987 during the trip.

Our flights booked arriving into BCN about 3pm the day before. Even been out and bought a red shirt for the “Scarlet Night”.

I think you’re right to be concerned. I hope they don’t stop operating but it doesn’t seem that unlikely to me and you’re very unlikely to get cash back if you take the credit and can’t use it. I’d only be tempted to take it if I could book a cruise in the next few weeks so that I had a high degree of confidence I’d get to go, then the access key and additional credit are freebies that matter less if you don’t get to use them.

So these can be cancelled for a refund of the points before using the access code, making a reservation essentially?

Once you have gone through the uploading documents and on board payment method etc you get option of boarding time. Surprisingly for me it was only 1.30pm,2pm and 2.30pm I think.

After asking questions on twitter I think I now have a plan. We need to book an extra cruise before the 31st July but it can sail anytime in 2022. This will unlock the access key for a further cruise in 2022 but I already holidays booked so can “gift” this to a friend. We can then use the remaining credit for a cruise in 2023. So its looks like the Med in September with “lucky” friends followed by the Cairo cruise in 2023. Just need to check I’m insured. I assume once I’ve converted the voucher into actual bookings my policy will cover any potential issues.

Out of interest… does this actually work? If so, what do you need to do?

I can’t see why Virgin will happily let randomers link bookings to get $$$ in referral credits, especially for free bookings!

Restaurant menus are now showing in the app for me (without prices for paid extras).

To view, go to the booking page, click into the restaurant and scroll down.
