Virgin Silver/SkyTeam Elite – ITA booking

Hello,

Trying to get my head around what benefits if any I get being a Virgin Silver/SkyTeam Elite member.

We have a flight booked LCY -> LIN for this Friday and I thought I had read that SkyTeam Elite gets you free seat reservations and extra baggage allowance.

Trying the ITA portal there is no option to book a seat without paying and no mention on extra allowance

A call to ITA customer services was met with a ‘You must be an Volare or Delta member’ for these benefits

A call to Virgin customer services was met with a ‘You have to book with us’ for these benefits

Slightly confused on how this is useful as Virgin do not always have all the flights available to book on their site plus do you really not get the Elite benefits if booked outside of Virgin on partner airlines?

Any insight would be lovely…

It’s not a system wide benefit. Virgin doesn’t offer free seat selection to Skyteam Elites either.
