Virgin reward flight. No seat selection ?

Each year I regularly book virgin reward flights for 2 adults and 2 young kids in Y. Just noted that no seats have been allocated. Is this a new change?

Any seat requires a payment of at least £19 per seat.

They should allocate you seats together shortly before check-in but are hoping you panic and pay money.

I think they brought in the requirement to pay in Y (and some PE) quite recently.
