Hi guys
Hopefully this is a simple question but some of you guys may be able to help me.
I am looking to buy a one way, one person ticket to the Maldives (from Heathrow) using points + a voucher I have. Since it’s one way, there’s not much use in the return leg element, so I’m looking at using it to upgrade from a premium economy seat (not yet purchased) to Upper.
Ideally I use my points (just over 75k) to get a points + taxes PE ticket, then use my voucher to uprade – but I’ve seen a few people say that when you do this, they don’t just upgrade from the difference between the price (in points) I paid for my PE ticket to the current points price of an Upper ticket, but take it from the base level.
So my question is: does anybody know if (choosing one of the low demand dates where a PE seat is 68k and an Upper is 125k) my voucher will be enough of an upgrade?
If not how many points is the base level for an Upper class seat and a PE seat, therefore how many would I need to buy in order to top up the difference?
Thanks
I think what you’ve heard relates to cash bookings. I recently upgraded 2 PE seats to MCO booked at 10,500 points each and the cost to upgrade was the difference in points and surcharges. UC was only 29k points on my travel date so the voucher more than covered it.
MLE points prices are crazy though!
