I’ve got some virgin flights to HKG over easter which have now been cancelled – can’t see any threads on how Virgin are handling this, so thought I’d ask and update in due course. The flights were paid with miles and using some upgrade vouchers – combination of economy/upper class.
My current plan is to wait till late April when seats for April 2023 open up and give them a call to explore rebooking – but there will be a good chance of no rewards availability. Interested to know how Virgin have been handling this – they say on their site:
If your flight has been cancelled by us, you can choose an alternative flight under comparable transport conditions, on a date at your convenience, to get you to your final destination. Subject to the availability of seats in the cabin originally purchased, at no additional cost.
– Would this apply to reward seats?
– Would it depend on reward availability or general availability?
In general, reports suggest that Virgin are being a PITA over changes, insisting on reward seats being available (but also there are reports they aren’t making any rewards seats available at the moment)
Definitely do your research and prepare for a battle
