As Virgin Australia partner with Qatar, I was thinking of booking my domestic flights on my Australia trip with Virgin Australia. I am a silver member with British Airways. Does this mean that I can use the Virgin Australia lounge if flying in economy as they are partnered with Qatar (and due to my Silver BA, I will get status with Qatar/Qantas etc?

    No.

Whilst QR may have an arranegment with VA it’s an arrangement outwith the One World Alliance. So any non QR status won’t get you in to VA Lounges

With sort of thing in mind, I often wonder if it’s a better idea to target BAEC Silver equivalent with QR Privilege Club…
This sort of thing does heavily depend on personal circumstances, since if you regularly use non OneWorld airlines that QR is the only real option to have agreements with, it’s a great idea…

I’m not sure what their requirements are, and it’s a shame that Rob hasn’t done an article on something like this, and there’ll be a lot of HfP readers picking up 560 TPs in single return journey, which is the bulk requirement of BAEC Silver

The AMEX Platinum Charge Card also gets you access to VA lounges if you hold it.
