Forums Frequent flyer programs Virgin Flying Club Using Virgin Flying Club miles on Singapore / Royal Brunei

  • 161 posts

    Hello all.

Messing around with a few ideas for our main holiday in 2025 and was wondering what options I have with my VFC miles. I think I can book flights to Brunei from either Singapore, Hong Kong or Kuala Lumpur (on Singapore or Royal Brunei), but can’t see how many miles this might cost – I suspect I have to call, but obviously I’d rather avoid that. Does anyone know a rough figure? Peak/off peak, economy, business – any number would be helpful.

    Thanks all!

You can check availability without having to register by going to the United Airlines site.

    So Singapore to Brunei would be 7,500 Y, 17,500 J, 25,000 F one-way

Can’t help with the other routes.

FFS, I couldn’t find that anywhere – thank you.

Edit – turns out that was because I didn’t click on the logo of any of the airlines. Good grief, what a moron.

Has anyone successfully booked Singapore Airlines flights using Virgin Atlantic miles? I’ve tried multiple routes by calling Virgin Atlantic, but there’s no availability at all. It seems like Singapore Airlines isn’t releasing seats to its partner airlines.

Note Royal Brunei is a dry airline.. just an FYI

Long haul on SQ is pretty much non existent using VS miles.

Another Note/ FYI for Royal Brunei could refer to their owners and human rights allegations.

I’ve booked Singapore to Hong Kong and Singapore to Bali in business but you won’t get long haul business class.

What route are you looking at? As per above you can check availability on United Airlines and save yourself a call.

I was hoping to buy MAN-SIN, happy with Y, called VS but the rep (Philip) was not able to find any availability in either direction in Mar/Apr 2025.

I suspect that will be nonsense.

    Although I could be wrong.

United is showing plenty of availability and it tends to be a very good guide. When you called did you specify you were wanting to book a reward flight with Singapore Airlines?

It should cost 70,000 points return.

I would try calling back having checked availability with United.com and hope you have better luck.

Finally managed to book SQ from MAN-SIN direct.
    35k plus £112 in Y.

@bartas8891 was that one way or return?

One way. I recommend speaking to Josh from VS team, the majority of them are clueless when it comes to SQ.
