Hello all!
I hit my companion voucher target a couple of months ago for my blue BA AmEx. My AmEx year runs until September 23rd. I just upgraded to the Black BA AmEx – does my year reset with the upgrade or am I still ineligible to spend towards my next companion voucher target?
Just wondering how it works and if switching to the Black BA AmEx was worth it at this stage if I’m not going to be spending towards my next companion voucher. Thanks!

If I understood correctly you really went the wrong way about this.
Your earning year does not reset once you have a BA card and will stay the same no matter your upgrades/downgrades.
Basically you had to spend £20k to qualify for an inferior voucher when what you should have done, wanting to eventually upgrade, was to upgrade as soon as you were about to hit £10k spend or in any case before you had hit £20k so that you would have qualified for the Premium 2-4-1 voucher and then tried to downgrade few months after (albeit reports here and elsewhere suggest that Amex is trying to discourage this with mention of the T&C impact on the voucher – not actually enforced so far).
In the past, as the voucher was the same (just different spending requirements) it was not possible to earn two vouchers in the same year, however as now the premium voucher is considerably different, it may be worth a call in to Amex, asking to speak to a product specialist, and ask if You would qualify for a new PP voucher by hitting £10k before you year end in September. Failing that I would downgrade back and upgrade after September
