    I have one upgrade voucher.

I want to fly return business class with my husband.

I will use the voucher for me to upgrade from premier economy to business and pay full Avios for my husband.

Do I have to make separate bookings?

    Thank you

Yes that would need two bookings.

If you don’t have a second voucher, why not do two upgrades outbound and both pay the full amount for business on the return? That can be one booking, but you would have to call.

Seperate bookings would allow a different Avios/cash mix on the second if desired.

Have you considered using the upgrade voucher on the outbound leg for both of you and use a different booking for full Avios on the return.

The advantages to that would be:
    1. You’re always on the same booking so will be kept together in case of disruption
    2. May save on fees with the return flight starting outside of the UK
    3. Booking is simpler and there’s no risk of you booking one seat and then finding the other seat is unavailable. (Extra helpful if you’re booking a competitive route on release 355 days out)

All these can probably be overcome with two return bookings each for one person, but two one way bookings for two just sounds much simpler to me.
