I was forced to take out a Gold card earlier this year because my ARRC was cancelled due to inactivity (I only used it to park points when I cancelled my previous Gold). As I approach the point where it will start to incur the annual fee I am considering a two part plan. The first part is to reapply for the fee ARRC, transfer the points over again and cancel the Gold. The second part would be to potentially upgrade the Gold to Platinum for whatever bonus that would earn and also get a bonus for a supplementary card for Mrs Definitas and then probably cancel at some point. What level of MR points could I expect for the upgrade and the Sup card. There is also a third option which would be try to get a retention bonus for keeping the Gold beyond the free year but that seems less attractive. I would be grateful for any information or suggestions for any alternatives that I have missed.
*I meant ARCC
Do you have the gold credit or charge card? Credit can’t be upgraded to plat, charge can be and is 20k points for spending £4K
