Forums Frequent flyer programs Other frequent flyer schemes Trick for one way pricing on Emirates

  • 114 posts

Player 2 needs to book an open ticket on Emirates (Outbound next week, inbound undecided but likely within 4-5 months).

It’s £2k in Economy from AMD to LHR one way so better to book a return.

Are there any other options? Ideally I’d book the return later nearer the time. One thought that comes to mind – Book a return, fly the outbound, then cancel the return leg? Not sure what the implications are of doing that and how they would price the outbound leg.

    TIA

I’m not sure exactly what you’re asking, but if you mean would there be a refund for cancelling the inbound leg it would depend on the ticket Ts and Cs. Unless it was some very expensive flexible ticket the chances are you’d get nothing apart from any airport taxes, especially when the outbound leg has been used.

Usually tickets out of markets like India have low or no change fee. Book a date approximately when you think you’d need it and change nearer the time. There will be a fare difference if the same fare “bucket” isn’t available but if you’d have some flexibility on date and can lock it in sooner rather than later shouldn’t be too much

Do you have any Amex Membership Rewards you could move in order to book a one-way redemption? Would seem good value vs throwing away half of a cash return flight.

Does it have to be Emirates?

Or does Player 2 literally just need to be in AMD next week via the cheapest and/or most cheerful way possible?

Thanks all – has to be Emirates on a specific outbound flight, but any inbound one.

No MR points unfortunately at the moment.

Have booked a return and SamG you’re right, the change fee is minimal

    Thanks again
