Forums Other Destination advice Travel UK-Ireland-UK with just a UK driving license?

Can someone fill me in on the latest situation here, please?

Am I OK to fly in and out of DUB with just a driving license? Do EI and/or FR have different policies here?

Have a bit of a tight schedule after the rugby in Edinburgh and if I miss my booked flight, it’s going to be both faster and cheaper to route via Dublin to get myself home. However I’d rather no take my passport just on the off chance it’s needed.

    Many thanks

Legally you don’t need a passport, just photo ID for boarding, but as you say the airlines might have their own policies, which should be on their websites.

Ryanair will not accept a driving licence. You will need your passport.

Can’t help with EI I’m afraid.

OK, thanks all. Will scratch that plan then as it was going to need to be FR for the flight out of Scotland. Slightly mindful of a very low load on the EZY flight and a desire for everyone to get home early will likely see them closing the gate promptly!
