Thoughts on Oceana Santa Monica LXR?

Hi all – we’ve got a 3-week California road trip coming up and for the final night we want to stay in the LA area as we’re flying out from LAX.
I’ve just booked the Oceana Santa Monica LXR – 95k point on a $1000/night room which seems like a decent deal. Anyone got experience of this hotel or Hilton’s LXR brand more generally?

There is thread on flyertalk on this hotel, and worth looking at the user submitted pics on TripAdvisor.

I was looking to book it for 5 nights using my points but ended up going with the BH Waldorf Astoria. My main concern was that if you don’t get an upgrade with status the basic reward rooms can be poorly located, such as facing a side alley directly into the apartment next door or on the ground floor with bedroom on the sidewalk so you end up closing the curtains/blinds 24/7.

However for 1 night this may not be an issue for you and its a decent location to get to the airport the next day.
