Looking for a decent Sunday Lunch this weekend which serve late afternoon, 3ish and after. Would like to avoid busy large pubs, I’m staying in South Kensington so anywhere within 40mins walk would be handy.

We went to Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill on Park Walk last Sunday, does a decent Sunday roast.

The Goat on Fulham Road has also served us well but is a bit pubby. Gordon is quiet.

Not a traditional Sunday lunch, but we like Ognisko in Exhibition Road which also has a terrace overlooking Prince’s Gardens.

Hawksmoor in knightsbridge does a good sunday roast too. Flesh and buns in high st ken is currently 50% for this month (soft opening) if you want a younger vibe

Not sure if it’s too downmarket or too theme park for you but Cote Kensington High Street is quite good.

Or for something a little bit different you could try Balans, also on Kensington High Street. They do an all day brunch which is quite good but also have some other interesting options on the menu. No Sunday roasts though.

Kensington High Street is a bit of a trot from South Kensington, of course!

Might be controversial but I’m not a fan of chain restaurants. Small groups I don’t mind, for example I’ve booked in to Cafe Murano in St James for later in the week.

If you’re looking for breakfast/lunch, albeit not on a Sunday, in South Kensington…

We popped into a little cafe called “La Brioche” at 40 Old Brompton road at the end of January. All day vegetarian breakfast with a latte, and a mahoosive plate of pasta bolognaise with tea, total – £13.

La Brioche was my ‘go to’ during covid as it remained open whilst other places were closed. They do a decent sausage sandwich for breakfast! Very old school place though and absolutely no formal Sunday lunch.

Pavilion Road right behind Peter Jones in Sloane Sq is a lovely street with nice restaurants (Ottolenghi, Granger… etc) & certainly walkable from South Ken.

There is a well regarded vegan place on there too (Wulf & Lamb). There is also a ‘proper’ restaurant called Hans Bar & Grill which, whilst you can’t tell from Pavilion Road, is actually the restaurant of a hotel which is on the parallel street – and likely to do Sunday roast.
