Hi All I have a question about Star Alliance Airline, linked with the UK Amex transfer portal. I have just over 120,000 Amex points. I am considering travelling to Canada for my birthday towards the end of the year in Autumn (October). I know there is no Air Canada but a few other Star Alliance Air Lines on the portal. Which one will have the best points cross-over rate to book Partner Star Alliance Airlines flights with Air Canada? If anyone could please let me know.
I have checked BA and I would be going to Toronto (YYZ) in Premium Economy from LHR and returning in business class would be £2536.71 without seat booking fees. I have Avios points but I will use them for EU flights as they work out a better rate and I save more money. I have seen Air Canada flights return in Premium Economy and Business Class return for a total of CND $3553.36 without seat booking fees. That is equal to £2112.68 which is way out of what I want to pay with BA or Air Canada. If anyone could advise on what Star Alliance Airline gives the best cross-over rate with booking partner flights that would be great.
Air Canada has a lot of partners, inc outside Star, so it is a broader list than just SAS and Singapore. Only way to find out is by playing with the relevant award charts once you’ve got the full AC partner list.
Remember to factor in which carriers add surcharges.
Thank you @Rob, I shall have a look at Air Canada codeshare airlines and the ST-Group Partners. I will look at the one that offers 1-2-1 points cross-over. Sir Airlines are amazing but their cross-over is so overpriced now. I will email/contact the Air lines I want to put points into before moving my Amex points. Yeh, those Surcharges are high, I might get a flight from the EU if it works out cheaper. Flying from the Uk is so overpriced. The whole green/net zero is Tax to airlines then they move to us the customers so it’s a holiday tax or flight tax.
Thanks for your help.
