Is my Amex spending limit a hard cap?

Hello!

I have a spend limit of 4K, however, it seems there’s something pending that I can’t see as the available credit only shows 3999£.
I need to do a purchase of 4K. Do you know what will happen in this case? Will the purchase be rejected?

I can’t be sure in your case, but Amex seem to have a soft limit a few pounds higher than the official one.

If you need to bust through the limit completely you can phone them and ask for a temporary limit increase for a specific purchase.
