Leaning towards booking either Shangri-La or Conrad for a trip towards end of the year. Have Jade and gold status. Points from Conrad could be more useful in future but SL seems to have good kids club, though it can get fully booked during weekends. Any suggestions from those who have visited SIN?

The Conrad’s nice enough, but perhaps not quite as nice as it should be for the brand.

Shangri-La – Valley Wing, no contest. Garden/Tower wings I haven’t stayed at but from what I saw I’d rate above Conrad. Location is nice, and quiet, at the top end of Orchard Road, walking distance to shops etc but a bit more out of the way (though only a taxi ride) for Clarke Quay / tourist stuff if that’s what you want to spend most of your time doing.

Shangri-la is fantastic – it’s one of the few places we have returned to based on such good experiences before. Buffet breakfast is wonderful, staff are lovely and the pool area and gardens are great. The set up for kids seems to be good (we don’t have any, but it’s evident that it’s popular with families).

The walk isn’t far to Orchard Road there’s a few bus stops close by and they have a shuttle service to the nearby MRT station and mall.

Conrad with work (although Mandarin Oriental is my preferred choice but work dropped that off the list) and Shangri-La when with family. I don’t know how long you’re going for but we tend to do a week at the apartments at the Shangri-La Orchard to gradually get over jet-lag and then five or so nights at the Sentosa Shangri-La. Getting the kids up for breakfast at first is beyond tricky so we stopped trying.
