Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Should I resist or yield to urge for a spreadsheet?

A spreadsheet all the way for me! That’s how I can justify all the time and effort put into this points lark! Last year, spent 0.86p per Avios and got 1.65ish value, from memory. Many friends and family don’t understand why we do it until I give them the facts.

Are you talking to family and friends about this game, @Whatsthepoint!
I most certainly do not dare!

The other day a close friend seemed so proud for a Club redemption for a 0.4p per Avios value. I tried so hard not to be smug!

    Those people are beyond help!

My in-laws built up a healthy avios balance some years ago then used them to get something like £400 off economy flights to Bermuda 🤦‍♀️

Tbf, these are the people helping us stay in the game and not spoiling it.

I got into this ‘game’ via a recommendation from a friend so I feel it’s only right I share my ‘hobby’ should it come up. Most friends and family either just don’t get it or are too lazy to put the effort in. A few, like my daughter and son-in-law, have made a start, with a clear strategy. At present they don’t have the income/expenditure to rack up companion vouchers etc, but that will probably happen in the future. I also have one friend who thought he was doing it right when I showed him he wasn’t e.g. he didn’t know about HfP. He was most grateful when I put him right. That’s what friends do, isn’t it?
