I am not a regular visitor to Spain but have an upcoming visit to Seville soon. I’ve had a read at old HfP info that wasn’t so specific so I’m looking for any restaurant/bar/visitor recommendations. I’m not looking for high end food, just local places probably found in Old Town where I think we’ll get our accommodation for 4-5 days.
    TIA.

I spent a week in Seville last month and will be going back for a few more days later this month, loved it and looking forward to returning. In all honesty, I wasn’t that taken with the food, though that might be because it was more meat-based than I would usually choose because of our travelling companions.

In the centre, the only place that stuck in my mind was Maestro Marcelino, which we visited on a tapas tour (which was OK but nothing special). Tiny little atmospheric bar/tapas place, serving mainly charcuterie and cheeses. The best jamon we had whilst there. Not somewhere to linger for hours – you might have to stand at a barrel rather than getting a seat – but good if you are planning your own tapas tour or maybe lunchtime. Try the orange wine! We’ve since learned it was featured on Portillo’s Andalucia on TV recently if you saw that.

Talking of which, Carmona (where Michael has a house) is 40 or so minutes away and makes an enjoyable day trip if you have your own transport.

If you are there before mid-November and find any gems, I’d be interested to know – please report back!
