Just had an email from SAS reminding me that I can keep Gold for another year if I fly 5 times with them before 31st March. Does anyone know if this is 5 return trips? 5 single segments? Are all fare classes included? Thank you.
I’m trying to figure out if an award flight counts as well
Looking on another forum it does look like 5 segments but I’m not sure if SAS connect is eligible or not. This would make it achievable in a single day if so for around the £200 mark. Given the BA changes this feels like a good potential route to maintain status in an alliance.
I did LHR-ARN-UME-ARN-OSL-LHR last month in SAS Go for about £250 and AIUI that ticks the boxes for the extension.
Fast track, exit row and middle seat blocked on 4/5 sectors, free tea/ coffee and wifi.
Recommend the Best Western Umea for an overnight – basic rooms, but good staff and breakfast (and a free – think airline lounge standard – evening buffet was a nice surprise).
Did this before the BAEC immolation, thinking it may help flying in 2026-27, now looking like 2025 🙂
SAS Connect is eligible as is SAS Link and SAS. You will need to check whether Wideroe flights are eligible. All fare classes count I believe.
I spent £230 for the 5 segments: EDI>ARN>OSL>BGO>ARN>EDI back in November’24 to retain Eurobonus Gold (Skyteam Elite Plus) until July ’26
I got the same email, but if I check my SAS app it says:
My qualification period = 01/07/2024 – 30/06/2025
Current status expiry date = September 2026
So surely the email (fly 5 flights by March) or the app (Current status expiry date) is incorrect?

I think many got the Sept 26 expiry on Gold but that was on the proviso of 5 sectors by end of March or you may see that disappear.
I agree, though it isn’t clear to me whether I would lose it or not, with the BAEC changes, I think it is worth my while booking 5 flights by way of a quick return to Umea for example, to keep SkyTeam Gold as an option.
I just booked EDI-ARN-OSL-BGO-OSL-ARN-EDI flying SAS, 6 sectors in March for £180 to keep Sky Team Gold as an option, a good deal imo, done flight search on Google Flights and booked through Booking dot Com as SAS website does not do multi city bookings.

I’m finding I can book a 2-segment flight on SAS but not the 3-segment flight I found on Google Flights. Is there any downside to booking via Booking dot Com or similar? I’m assuming there’s an easy way to add Eurobonus membership details? Will go and try a dummy booking, but any advice would be welcome. My Gold status is supposed to last until Sept 26 but like others, I don’t want to risk it.

Once I completed my booking in Booking dot com I got 2 emails, a booking confirmation then 10 mins later an email with my SAS Booking reference, logged into the booking on the SAS website and added my Eurobonus # and was able to book the seats for free.

Thanks 🙂
I was able to get a 5 part round trip come up on the SAS website by picking somewhere that could be got to by both a 2 stop and 1 stop trip. Sounds like booking.com is a good option too though, I’ll check both before booking.

Interesting. I couldn’t. I can see the 2 stop options on travel agent sites, and on flight searches like google flights, but not on the SAS website or app. Google flights won’t let me click to go to SAS, it says I have to phone to book. I wonder if I’ve got a setting on SAS that says 1 stop only? I’ve checked several times, but can’t see it.
Given the problems I’m having booking it with SAS, I’ve found it’s cheaper to book a one-way one-stop flight on SAS, and then a one-way flight back (with 2 stops) on booking dot com. A return flight on booking dot com is more expensive, for the same fare class.
