I am planning to apply for an AMEX Platinum card later this month, and hence receive Hilton Gold status simultaneously; I then will look to keep my platinum card for a year and cancel on its anniversary to avoid the hefty annual fee for the second year. My question is, does the Hilton Gold status expire once my Platinum Card has ceased i.e. next September 2024, or does it work per calendar year, so would expire the end of 2024?
Thanks
YMMV on this. I have never actually seen “the rules” but what I can say is that my wife still has her gold status many years later despite never actually booking a Hilton ever.
Off the top of my head she last had a UK Platinum card in her own name about 10 years ago.

ha identical situation here although Plat was 5 years ago
I think Hilton status expires March 31st so (if you are accepted for the Plat!) you would have it for at least until 31/3/25. That said, I can add to the above that my OH’S gold status has extended well beyond this on both occasions he gained it via Platinum (unlike Bonvoy status where we’ve both been busted down to Silver).
Not sure if it’s just your wording but you have to register for the hotel statuses, they’re not automatic.
fantastic, thanks all, thats very encouraging to hear!
