Wasn’t the Finnair route specified in Rob’s article? It really shows the impact of the readership and how successfully and influential HFP has become!
Finnair MMB still not working for BA flights. Thought it might have been a glitch but not thinking it was deliberately pulled.
I’m not surprised it’s been blocked – which is a shame as it was a useful tool to have.
But I think it’s more likely that Amadeus put the block on it as it’s basically their system that the likes of AYs and QFs MMB is accessing and amending and it’s not designed to be a passenger accessible system on any sort of mass basis.

No, Finnair was only mentioned in the article in a list of OW airlines. It was a useful hack but from all the various posts, people were endlessly hitting Finnair, so regrettably for the time being it is out of action. It’s a real disincentive for sharing useful things here because of a lack of discretion or common sense.
So I am planning to book Qatar reward flights, will I still be able to change to RJ or is it BA only?
Qatar will be able to add your RJ status if you contact them.

Qatar agents also seem more familiar with adding two frequent flyer numbers, one for its benefits and the other to collect TP/Avios/miles which is a standard GDS function, but one BA agents aren’t used to handling.

Many thanks!

Appreciate it thank you.
I got my Silver Jay/ Oneworld Bronze status match in March and used Finnair to apply the number to a BA flight. I can see the Royal Jordan number on the booking on BA. However, it’s now exactly 7 days before that flight, and it’s still asking me to pay for seat selection. Any ideas?
Contact BA twitter & ask them to book the specific seats that you want (I had a similar issue)
It’s 7 days starting based on the time of the flight,
If your flight is at say 2pm then seat selection should open up at 2pm 7 days before and not before.

To be fair he/she does say

I would hope it’s been sorted, hopefully they will come back and update.
Can I make an avios booking on my BAEC account, and then add my RJ number to the booking to get free seat selection for all passengers? I’m a complete novice, both in this forum, and in collecting and redeeming avios, so please go easy on me! And thanks in advance
Yes, that’s possible:
1. Book your rewards flight, but remove your BAEC number on the personal details page before paying.
2. Go to ba.com but do not login.
3. Select ‘manage my booking’ from the menu and enter the booking reference and the last name.
4. You can now add your RJ status to the booking.
5. You can now select seats. Can anyone confirm that I’m right in thinking there’s zero benefit to adding my RJ status to an iberia long haul business redemption as I can already choose my seat for free?
@Lumma benefit might be if cancellation or delays happen and OW elites get priority. My experience on SkyTeam is that elites get taken care of in a way non-elites do not.
@Blair Walford salad
Good point. Always the outside chance that bad IT could get me thousands of RJ points too I suppose
Are you able to select exit/bulkhead seats for free on QR reward flights (booked via BA) if you have RJ Gold?
As a data point:
I had a CW EDI-SIN, HKG-EDI and the HKG flight was cancelled.
Phoned BA to change the first EDI-LHR and re-arrange the HKG-LHR-EDI. Mentioned I now had RJ Golden Sparrow and could I put that number in my booking.
Agent said yes, no problem. Then had a problem! So said: Tell me the seats you want and I’ll just add them complimentary!
So +£400 of seat fees saved – and old-style CW window seats, both with direct access (no jumping over aisle seats).
I’m a happy sparrow!

Seems only way is to book and then ask BA over chat to remove and add RJ?

Thanks – I’d stupidly managed to get this wrong. So all good in the end.
Has anyone managed to book a new reward flight and been able to add the RJ number while doing the booking? I have zero option to remove or amend the BA number, it’s hard coded, which sounds right as I’m using Avios linked to it.
Cash bookings I can see are possible as you don’t need to log in.

Let me try to clarify Step 1: On Page 3 (‘Passenger’) of the booking process, under ‘First Adult’, it asks for ‘Executive Club membership number’, and your BAEC number should be prefilled in there. Remove the number and continue with the process. I believe the number is not stored and then it allows you to add your RJ number in Step 4 above.
I know this is a long thread, but please bear with me folks.
I’m about to make a BA economy cash booking and use my Gold Sparrow status to select seats. I understand that I don’t log into my BA account, I just make the booking as a guest and enter my RJ status number when asked, thus I presume enabling me to book my seat.
However, I’m sure I have read in one of these threads somewhere, that when some have then changed their RJ status back to BA Exec Club to earn avios and tier points, their seat selection has been removed?
Is this the case or have I imagined it? Or if it is the case, is there a “right” or “wrong” time to change your status back to BA?
Sorry if this has been asked before, I don’t want to make a mistake.
Thank you
