Forums Frequent flyer programs Virgin Flying Club Reward vouchers on multi city trips

Hi all, newbie here but slightly relieved to see I’m not the only one bewildered by the system changes. Ordinarily I’d try and speak to a human at VA over the phone but the hour long wait time to potentially get nothing resolved terrifies me so here I am.

We have 2 x reward vouchers (red tier so 75k points is my understanding). Wife and I looking to go to USA next year and do a bit of a road trip. If we fly from LHR into one city in USA and back to LHR from another can we use one reward voucher, or do we have to return to our original landing point and use it as a return? I’d rather not burn both vouchers on same trip.

Well I haven’t done it but I would say categorically yes, you can do what you want to do. The terms are below. Technically you are wanting to do an open jaws return but it should totally be allowed.

Companion tickets with Flying Club reward vouchers
Buy a ticket with either points or pounds and use your voucher to bring a companion along with you – either on a round trip, or two one-way flights.
And again, standard taxes, fees and charges will apply.

Open jaws are fine, nothing has changed in that regard. My last trip with a voucher was MAN-JFK (and on to ORF on a single booking paying cash for the DL flight) then returning LAS-MAN.

Even though the hold time always says an hour it’s typically 10-15 mins and the agents are generally competent enought o box something like that off in 10 mins.
