just rebooked a few nights in the US which I had booked for July.
appears to be an approx 20% drop in points from the hotels I had booked.
also noticed a free 25,000 points which IHG were offering by just clicking “collect” 🙂
Good Reminder Mick.
I have some Florida hotels booked for April on points and was able to rebook a couple of them, recouping about 15k points.
I presume the 25,000 points is your Spire Elite re-qualification gift?
Where was this “collect” instruction? Have you just requalified for Spire or something?
I’ve been Spire Elite for around 3 years but have never noticed this before.
It’s gone now, as I’ve collected, but on the main screen it was showing I had two offers. I clicked the link –
Offer 1 – was collect 25,000 for being Spire Elite OR gift status to someone else – was a red box I think.
Offer 2 – something to do with Hertz car rental
You get 25k each year for requalifying – I wonder what happened to your points for the last 2 years then?!
If you click the Spire offer again, even though it now only just shows the usual Hertz offer, you should see a link for “Expired and Redeemed Benefits” underneath that. This should show you the history of whether you have redeemed your 25,000 points for requalifying for Spire for the last two years or so. If anything show “Expired” rather than “Redeemed” it may be worth contacting IHG customer service.
