Reward nights – qualify for upgrades?

Hi all, looking at buying points as part of the 100% bonus point offer, as a 5 night stay works out cheaper than cash price, particularly as Gold members get the 5th night free. Does anyone know, if as gold member you are also entitled to an upgrade if you book reward nights only?

At Hilton, upgrades are always at the discretion of the hotel.

The automatic upgrades, if given, do not distinguish between paid or award nights, and generally manual ones don’t either – but someone who stays at a property frequently is more likely to be ugpraded than someone who doesn’t.

Agree with @John above and it is worth remembering that upgrades can be a hit and miss so not guaranteed regardless of the payment method. As a Hilton Diamond I get upgraded about half the time and when the hotel is not busy.
