I had a very good experience with BA Holidays following my mum getting ill and BA allowing me to change the booking even if she was not a passenger (basically I was able to amend my BA holiday into a much cheaper one and they refunded the difference).
Since then, I try to give all my business to BA holidays but recently found a flight that is cheap on Finnair, JAL, Expedia, Booking.com, etc. but not on BA’s website!
The flights are a year away so I would like to have a way to somehow be able to cancel/rebook if something was to happen. Expedia allows me to pay £150 per person for an insurance that allows you to rebook in case of illness of passengers or close relatives, booking.com has an expensive £400 pp extra that allows 1 change to the tickets, Finnair and JAL do not offer any extras.
Have you had good experiences or know of good insurance providers? I am happy to pay a little extra for that peace of mind.
Thanks!
I will just add …
I have an Admiral Worldwide cover that I can upgrade to platinum which supposedly will provide £5,000 of cover in case of cancellation of trip due to illness of passengers or close relatives.
I also buy my flights with an Amex BAPP which I know comes with insurance but I don’t know how good/bad it is.
Thanks!
Typically insurance offered by online travel agents will be expensive compared to a standalone travel insurance policy that covers most destinations for a year.

Worth a phone call to see if BA Holidays could also offer this itinerary?

Tried to but they wouldn’t.
MAD-JAP and back for March 2024 appeared at £2,300 per person in business (with JAL, Finnair, Expedia, Booking). BA Holidays was offering me the same flights for twice the price unfortunately.
