Hi
Want to book a hotel in Dubai online and it charges in Dirhams.
If I use Curve will there be no currency conversion charges if booked on a Monday?
Thanks
Depends on your curve plan. If metal, yes.
Make sure you select AED while making the payment.
Looks like Curve can’t be used for UAE dirhams
Curve worked fine in Dubai last month with UAE Dirhams.
Went online to change card to dirhams as advised before paying on net and dirhams is not a supported currency 😀
Don’t change your currency in Curve, you leave that as GBP. If the supplier asks which currency you want to pay in select AED.
What Curve do you have? The free one is only fee free for the first £250 equivalent of spend.
As Steve says, never change the card currency. You’ll be hit with fx fees twice.
Why would it be any different than using the card in the destination country? The exact same limits and charges apply based on your plan (so avoid doing non-EUR/USD at weekends, etc).
I use it for this exact scenario – pre-paying for accommodation or other things – all the time.
Small risk of extra fraud prevention alerts triggering of course, but that applies to any international transaction on any card.
