Was due to fly on Avios business tickets at 2140 SYD-DOH and connect with the MAN flight arriving back in UK Tuesday lunchtime.
After 3 hours on the tarmac last night they said they had a technical problem and the curfew meant the flight was cancelled.
Typing this at 07.50 Sydney time from the Novotel Brighton beach where Qatar sent us.
They are now proposing a 1430 departure with an 11 hour DOH layover then onto FRA then FRA-MAN with Lufthansa.
I’m not a frequent flyer, just an avid points collector for leisure.
Anyone see a better (shorter) route I can propose to Qatar?
I’m not getting far on Skyscanner.
Sometimes there really are no better options than the one the airline proposes.
What time does the new flight arrive into DOH? I would have thought you could connect to a direct MAN flight there, there are 2/3 departures per day. It’s going to be a huge faff going via FRA.
QR app is showing economy seats for DOH-MAN departing at 01.25, 07.45 and 14.45, and Q suite departing at 07.45 on the 27th. I’m not sure if this date would work for you as my head hurts when I try to work out all the different time zones involved!

Timings are
26th – SYD 14.30 dep arr DOH 21.40
11 hour layover (they said they’ll provide hotel)
DOH 08.40 (on 27th) arr FRA 13.20
FRA 16.10 arr MAN 17.00
Monster 36+ hours journey and feel like I’m talking to a bot on their WhatsApp channel.
How did you get on? Of course you were posting as we were heading off to bed in the U.K.!
We were lucky. Been booked onto same flight and route we were due to travel 24 hours ago.
Absolutely exhausted though. Had 4 hours sleep in last 24 hours.
Let’s hope the flight actually departs this evening.
There are still people from last night watching tonight’s flight check in and hoping they get some no shows as Qatar have done sod all else to help them.
Terrible remote IRROPS experience and customer service. Have had more help from EasyJet in the past.
