Hello. I know that Qatar has a limit of one Qatar Privilege account being linkable to one BAEC account (if both accounts are owned by me). I think I read somewhere that if I link a Qatar Privilege account to a BAEC account and then unlink them, that they stay essentially linked for 24 months (preventing the linking of any other Qatar account to a BAEC account). Is this correct? I know people created multiple Qatar accounts recently and then Qatar cracked down on linking accounts. My son has a BAEC account which is in my household account. He has a Qatar account which cannot be linked it seems with his BAEC.
The main problems are when there is any sort of non-letter character in the name. If you are O’Dowd or Johnson-Smith then you’re stuck. Similarly, people who have their middle names on their accounts seem to struggle.
Hi Rob – yes, was aware of those issues. Not present on the accounts in question. When I try to link the accounts, I get passed through to the BA page, log in there and then get sent back to the Qatar page …but unlike the time that it worked., the Qatar page is exactly as it was before I attempted the link (i.e. showing as not linked). May have to reach out to Qatar for help.
