I booked a Qatar Airways cash return flight from London > Auckland, Tokyo > Madrid.
Given the recent BAEC tier point changes – it seems to imply other loyalty is better now. I booked direct with Qatar so I assume this means I’ll get their Qatar Airways Privilege Club points and also Avios.
My question is can or should I be doing anything else?
I assume I’ll just get a bunch of Avios and some Qatar Tier point equivalents – although not sure how helpful they are?
You can credit to any OneWorld programme of your choosing. Which is right for you, is entirely up to you! One of todays articles did a basic comparison of how many Avios you’ll get from a few different options.
Is this something you specify prior to the flight?
Yes – it will credit to whatever frequent flyer ID you have in the booking at time of boarding.
Still a bit confused about where best to credit – seems like if I’ll fly Qatar again, Qatar is best?

Use this, https://miles.travel-dealz.com/en/QR
Click your booking class, type in your route, then click on the Qualifying miles tab.
Then when you know what you’re earning work out which program benefits you most/is easiest to hit a tier threshold.
Hint: It’ll probably be Alaska.
