Hi. I’ve be vaguely keeping an eye on this as looking to fly to Oz in july. Last time i looked there were pretty much 4 business seats on both flights LHR to Brisbane every day. so I was pretty relaxed. i just checked and seems since 18th June there is zero seats on any day to any Austalian airport. did they just stop releasing business seats on these routes? Seems odd that suddenly everyone want ot go to Oz in winter??? Is it because it is start of school holidays so all been grabeed or qatar just dont release them over holiday period?
If its the former is it the case that Qatar relase seats 00:00 Doha time (10pm UK) 5 days before so today at 10pm 8th July is released?
Thanks any insite as never booked directly with Qatar with Avios.
Mike
Seats are probably getting booked up because of the British Lions Tour being played from June 2025 in Australia
I dont think they are even being released. More probably its the swchool holiday thing even though its winter. Thanks anyway
This was pretty much exactly the same situation last year. then availability randomly appeared at some point in November. I booked and am flying MAN-SYD in September.
Not saying that’s what will happen this year but just my experience.
Yep, we booked in the November drop last year as well. Had pretty much given up on it and then boom, there they were!
I have been having the similar issues except I am looking to fly in August of next year – I’m checking every day for various combinations of flights from Australia to Dublin or UK and most flights are saying there are no Business seats even available and then the few that have availability are only on Flexi so double the Avios. When I was looking earlier in the year there were a number of business seats available on these flights. Does anyone know if they release the business rewards seats later in the month or year? Or does anyone know of an equivalent to SeatSpy for Qatar? I would be happy to pay if it meant getting a rewards seat
As mentioned above, QR seems to stop releasing seats in peak periods (or only making “flexi” available), so it depends whether you want to risk seats appearing later or make alternative travel arrangements.
Doesn’t QR have its own award availability search tool now, or am I imagining that?!

They do, and while it is better than it was, it’s not the best because Doha has to feature in the search.
So London to Sydney would need two searches – one per sector. Any availability (as if) will therefor be shown at a higher price.
Still, useful and maybe you can contact Qatar to try and sell you a married sector or whatever it is called if you can’t find that online, but the 2 sectors are showing individually.
Just noticed QR releases seats 1 week out. I was in Melbourne last week ready to fly back in a week time. I booked flex seat with double of the avios. Managed to switch flex seat to normal priced seat that saved 156000 avios between two of us.
Prob no use to anyone but I am almost certainly cancelling my Oz trip next month. Pains me greatly as secured normal priced reward seats on QR and now they’re as rare as hen’s teeth and I’ll prob never get them again. Into Sydney dep LGW Sept 9th and return from Perth to LHR on Oct 4th. I doubt they’d go back in inventory as ‘normal’ reward seats though.

Such a shame, I remember you getting advice on here for that trip! Hope you make it out there some time
