Qatar Avios redemption – business lounge access

Apologies if this has been asked before but has anyone recent have fly with Qatar business using full avios redemption (U) and be able to access the lounge while transiting in Doha? I have chat with two separate persons on the live chat and both straight away say redemption ticket has no access to lounge. I remembered when I book it I can see that Lounge Access: In Doha and select airports. I have double checked the same reward flight on the same day and same route and it is still listed the same. I am quite confused as to whether I can access lounge when flying 2 days later. Is there changes to policy lately? I have a 12 hours layover time!

Comments on the main bit of the site today say that you will be fine – and also in London for the Premium lounge.

Can you get lounge access by status? DOH just opened some new lounges for BA Silver and above.

My partner was on reward ticket earlier last year. No problem accessing lounge in Doha in either direction.

For cash bookings, Where there is a BA codeshare, these frequently are the same price as QR fares. Whereas QR book in to P (and get no lounge access), the BA codeshare books into I, gets lounge access as well as bonus avois based on tier, and counts as one of your 4 BA flights.
All avios bookings, whether through BA or QR get lounge access.

I flew EDI-DOH-ICN-DOH-DUB with QR in October 2022 on Avios redemption and got full lounge access. No worries. Enjoy!

Yep, we had lounge access last Friday on full avios fare….Hey @Peggarz hope you enjoyed the bubbly at DUB. Apparently they’re restricting it now to 2 glasses pp. Disaster!

Hi @Polly. No time for bubbly at DUB sadly. We had a quick hop with EI to EDI and didn’t stop at the lounge as plans had changed. Had sufficient with QR of course.

Thanks all for the feedback! Appreciated! I have managed to get into the lounge with no issue at all and currently waiting for my flight to LHR. Don’t know why there is a gap in comms between the customer service on chat because they very strongly saying no access to lounge on redemption tickets and have to pay to access🤷‍♂️.

I think if you upgrade Econ ticket with Avios or pay for an upgrade then you don’t get access. Perhaps that is confusing the CS agent on live chat. And generally speaking their CS agents don’t seem to know what it going on (though in fairness you can sometimes get a helpful one).

I came here to ask the same question, as perusing my upcoming redemption booking there is an option to buy lounge access in Doha for £60! Good to hear it should be included.
