Hello all and Merry Belated XMAS!
So I was randomly reminded about my redemption flight back to LHR to which both flights were QSuite and I had booked my seat in 4B. I manually checked the seat plan just out of curiosity for how full the plane was and realised that it has changed from QSuite to 2-2-2 configuration. I have the email from a few months ago showing that I had booked Seat 4B but now when I go to ‘Manage my booking’ it now shows as nothing.
I spoke to QR customer service and they said I had to wait for an email from QR stating that there has been a plane change which I haven’t received which usually arrives within 3 days of the plane change according to the CS assistant. I asked about whether the new date had to have availability and the CS person didn’t want to confirm or deny. But I remember from a previous article from HFP recently that someone could book a new date with QSuite even with no availability.
How do I prove that there was an equipment change if no email was sent (except that I have my seat email which does not really prove it)?
Has anyone experienced this and should I just not worry?
Has anyone else managed to rebook onto QSuite where there was no availability?
Hi @bomba and Season Greetings.
I had this experience when flying with QR 18 months ago EDI-DOH-ICN. The first flight was never going to be Q-suite as it was reverse herringbone on an B787. The second flight however was with a Q-suite. I had checked in at home and all was going well until at the EDI desk with my bags when a late change was announced for my flight to Incheon. I never received an email. I was travelling with my wife, so the 2-2-2 I was changed to wasn’t so much of a problem and, in fact it was a comfortable flight where I slept well. However if you are on your own the neighbouring seat is very close and if you savour privacy you’ll be disappointed. There is a divider but not much else.
My return flight to DOH was in Q-Suites which I really do enjoy, but I didn’t feel too let down with the 2-2-2 change.
There is a swap QR will allow if you are willing to change your original plan, but we didn’t bother. From my reading if there is space in the cabin to swap into then they’ll do that, though I’m willing to be corrected.
I hope this helps.
Thanks for letting me know @Peggerz, I have never tried the 2-2-2 config but I feel like since I’m coughing up a lot of points I want what I paid for, luckily I am quite flexible and wouldn’t mind extending my stay. Thats a bit weird they didn’t send any email regarding the plane change and why QR insists on waiting for a plane change email. I do enjoy the privacy QSuite brings and would rather not be in the 2-2-2 config haha.
We must have got your plane. Booked DOH-SEZ and been tracking the flight. It’s been 2-2-2 all year. A few days before our flight they suddenly starting changing to Qsuite aircraft.
Great flight down and it looks like Qsuites back in a few days 🤞
Not sure any airline guarantees which aircraft they will be using on which flights as things can always go wrong.
