Qantas are offering half price membership of their “Qantas Club” product until 11:59pm (AEDT) 17 October 2022, at current exchange rate this works out at GBP185 (1 year + joining fee). Benefits are listed as extra baggage allowance (roughly inline with *O Sapphire, around 12kg extra on int economy) on QF coded flights, lounge access on QF, JQ and EK flights.

Any thoughts on the product or the value?

There seems to be a special offer for Qantas Club renewals as well. Qantas have been good about extending both status and Qantas Club memberships throughout the pandemic but that will probably end fairly soon, so this could well be useful for some people.

Qantas Club membership is really useful if you actually fly Qantas but don’t have OneWorld Sapphire or above. In this case a half-price membership offer could be good value.

In addition to the lounge access and extra baggage allowance benefits you mention, I think it gives priority check-in at some airports as well. I think there are some restrictions for lounge access for Jet Star and Emirates flights.

It also used to give access to some American Airlines domestic (Admirals Club) lounges, but I don’t know if this is still the case. In theory this is probably meant for flights associated with Qantas flight connections, but it often worked anyway. In the far distant past, before the British Airways / Qantas breakup, it even gave access to BA lounges, so was well worth while at the time.

Of course I should have added that the benefits are only really useful travelling Qantas in economy or premium economy, without Sapphire or above. They wouldn’t be needed if travelling in Business.

One unusual aspect of Qantas lounges is that they give Qantas Club members a free adult guest as well as two children. Not sure of the age limit. So for instance a family with two children taking an economy trip on Qantas from London to Australia and some flights within Australia / New Zealand within the next year might benefit just in terms of lounge access alone. Qantas Club members do also get some priority when flights are cancelled / rescheduled, not an unusual circumstance at the moment.
