Forums Other London life Pubs with outside seating in London

Planning a day in London later in June, 6 of us, for big birthday and hoping the weather will be good! Looking for somewhere for drinks with nice outside seating area, maybe along the river. It’ll be a Friday late afternoon/early evening before we go on for dinner so hopefully somewhere we can book in advance. Thank you

It might be useful to let us know where you are going for dinner or whether you have a general location in mind as London has a lot to offer!

The Dove in Hammersmith? Depends where your dinner is, of course!
The Anchor by the Globe to the south.

Thanks, so happy to travel around Town and use River Uber / tube. I haven’t booked dinner yet so this isn’t going to help 😂 (I really need to get organised) but think an Ivy Restaurant would be a good option, as we want something with a varied menu and a few cocktails, so I need to decide what Ivy is the best one to go for! I’m sure there was a thread on here regarding Ivy Restaurants in London but couldn’t find.

The Old Thameside Inn next to the Golden Hinde is a pleasant spot. It’s convenient for Borough Market which also has a few pubs with outdoor seating. Also convenient for the Shard if you’re eating in one of their restaurants.

If you’re looking at Ivy restaurants we had a late lunch a couple of months ago at the Granary Square Brasserie after seeing Moonwalkers at The Lightroom. They have outside seating too if I recall. Being next to Kings Cross and St Pancras it’s handy for travel connections. I hadn’t been to that area for years and was pleasantly surprised by the redevelopment going on – particularly the apartments that have been built in the old gasometers. It might be quite buzzing there on a Friday evening as quite a few businesses have offices there (unless they all WFH on Friday) and Coal Drops Yard can provide a bit of light retail therapy if your party are looking for that. Not along the river but it is next to Regents Canal!

I second the Granary Square Brasserie. We had a good long lunch there last week. They had a £19.17 2 course set menu in recognition of the Ivy opening in 1917. Bang for your buck in a good location it is hard to beat.

There is a pub on Granary Square called the Lighterman, with lots of outside tables including some on a balcony/roof. It may not be the most scenic, but it’s a nice enough spot, with views over the square and the canal.

+1 for Rotunda. Lovely terrace space on Battlebridge basin. At the back of King’s Place so well away from any street traffic.
