Forums Other London life Property surveyor in North London

I was wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a good property surveyor in north London (NW6)? This is for a freehold house purchase.

Ideally I am after someone who will not just send me a hardbound book full of stock statements which are actually of little use, plus pretty pictures. I’ve paid £1,500 for that sort of thing before and promised myself never again 🤣

My son used this guy for a victorian house in south west London http://www.fedalahltd.co.uk, he was recommended to him.
He was very impressed with him, there were estimates of costs for the work that needs doing,
He spoke to my son at length about the survey and said he speak again if my son wanted to.

I’ve used these people https://hadleykyte.com/ who were very helpful. Had a chat before writing up the report so that if we decided not to go ahead we could pull out without the cost of the report writing. Extensive report that gave recommendations for improvements. Caveat is that it was 17 years ago, but the director hasn’t changed, so I would assume the same management offers the same service standards. Based in Stanmore, so NW6 isn’t that far away.

    Thank you very much both!

Any luck with either @PeteM? We are buying a house in N5, and looking for a surveyor. Will follow both of these recommendations up.

I paid £400 for a recommended surveyor who wrote about 10 pages saying basic stuff which I more or less already noted myself.

After buying the place I found the previous owner left me the hardbound book he had bought (with invoice for £1500) detailing all the reasons the house was crap, which explained why he was selling after 2 years and also explains why I can’t sell it after 6 months on the market despite 10 estate agents saying how amazing it looks
