Hi all, 10 days ago I upgraded the inbound segment of my VS flight from Premium to Upper using points as I’d noticed on the Reward Seat Checker that the price had dropped significantly. I called up and they successfully upgraded me. The agent noted that the ticketing team would have to manually re-ticket me, which I know is standard.
However, 10 days have now gone past and the cash or points haven’t been taken. I can select my seat in upper, but I know that’s possible before the upgrade is fully ticketed. Should I say nothing and hope for the best that it is ticketed and they somehow didn’t charge me? Or should I call them up and question it? The outbound is also in a couple of days, do I say something to the agent at check in or try and get this sorted before the outbound?
Any advice or data points would be really appreciated!
I did this but with a voucher a few months ago and it was about 4 weeks before it was confirmed. The points were taken immediately and the extra taxes were charged a couple of days later. Did they give you a time scale? Have you had an email to send them the extra cash element via payment link?
Definitely get it sorted out before departure as presumably it would seriously muck up your plans if you were denied boarding because you didn’t have a valid ticket. Although, I’m assuming you have a ticket number from your original booking so I don’t actually know if you would still be allocated the PE seat if the re-ticketing hadn’t been done properly?
I had same happen and called up and was told not to bother worrying unless it reached T-14 days and still unticketed. Then to call up again

The flight was originally booked through Amex Travel. I’ve had an email from them saying there was a Flight Itinerary Change. It was just the updated seat to now be in the Upper Class Cabin. But no emails from Virgin or no points taken from my account. Given they haven’t taken the points I’m worried they’re not going to honor the upgrade and try and charge me the current price.. Do I have any protections here? The call was recorded and I actually did ask if the price goes up before it is ticketed would I be charged the higher rate and he assured me the price was locked. But you never know..

Why don’t you ring up and confirm it’s been ticketed or will be if you’re due to travel imminently?
Whilst “reticket” is the term used for this process by most VS agents, technically, this isn’t re-ticketing – you’re keeping the same ticket. If Amex Travel can see a change, then it’s likely that it has been processed. Stick your PNR in to https://pnr.sh/virgin, and see what buckets you’re shown to be travelling in. If that’s still in WSHKP at T-14, then call back. But, remember: not all VS agents do actually follow the full process… you may have been given a freebie – it shouldn’t happen, but it does.
They run the re-ticketing operation in what is effectively priority order – or, another way, by order of departure.
