Forums Other Destination advice Prague – especially museums!

We’re visiting Prague (for the 2nd time) at Easter. We’re all history nerds and OH and son are especially interested in WWII. The history of the Czech resistance is clearly still very important there so I’m just wondering if anyone is aware of any events/exhibitions running in April to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Operation Anthropoid? (There have been a couple of things already but they were last autumn/winter). We visited St Cyril & Methodius last time (unbelievably poignant) and going again to take the teenager on this visit.
Also – does anyone know if the Army Museum in Zizkov has re-opened yet? It closed for refurbishment a few years ago and I can’t find anything online about re-opening or about the other query above!
Is it also worth the day trip to Terezin?

Also also – we’re staying at the Hilton Old Town if anyone has any tips!

Not a history nerd myself, but given my ability to speak Czech, I could see they claim to plan bigger events than in 2012 around Prague 8 but can’t find anything specific (yet?).

The army museum is closed until the autumn unfortunately.

I’d say Terezin is worth visiting. Also, have you been to the Sedlec Ossuary/Kutna hora? Outside of Prague though…

I’d make time to visit the Old Synagogue (I forget its proper name) every time I visit Prague. It’s one of the most atmospheric places I’ve ever visited. Just sit and listen. I spent much more time there than I had planned just waiting for some American woman to stop talking.

I am not strong enough for Theresienstadt but found the Strahov Library very interesting. It’s particularly interesting and probably an unmined resource for pharmaceutical discoveries. (It’s also near a nice hotel on top of a hill.)

There is also the (Alphonse) Mucha Museum. I missed it but saw his stained glass windows, I think in the chapel in the castle near the bridge.
